The Enemy and Miss Innes by Martha Keyes

 Elizabeth Innes hates the MacKinnons with all her heart.  She will do anything to protect her sister from them and to enact revenge on Angus MacKinnon and his kinsmen.  But then, Elizabeth realizes that she doesn't understand the whole situation and does the unthinkable---develops a friendship with Malcolm MacKinnon, her former enemy.  Elizabeth's, and Malcolm's, journey is full of anger, retrospection, kindness, investigation, and hope for the future.
