The Spider and the Sparrow by A. L. Sowards

 I listened to the audio CD set of this book.  It was an intense story that kept me engaged from the first page to the last.  It was a good mix of historical fiction and espionage with lots of unexpected twists and turns along the way. It was thrilling and adventurous with compassion and romance mixed throughout.
